Not Knowing

There’s something attractive about not knowing. We know much more about the nineteenth century than we know about the Ancient Egyptians yet we feel somehow drawn to the latter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a trend in the future to reverse the obsessive recording of everything. I think it’s wise to do what the human brain has for some reason been doing for thousands of years — forget what’s not essential to our existence. The generations after that will probably appreciate it.
